Learning How to Learn and Community Based Education

Written on Friday, June 14, 2013

Today I want to blog like everybody else, writing about my life and the world I live in. Talking about my mental blocked mind. As I often mention on my blog, I am a stay at home mommy of 4 kids. It is always awkward to experience the writer blocks when i actually have to write something. And tonight I need to make presentation for a dialogue on Saturday. Less than 36 hours from now.

The most difficult part would be because I have to cut my 2 hours slides into 20 minutes speech, for this is going to be a discussion forum, not a workshop or a talkshow. Something I never did in the past. And the most thrilling fact, I am going to share tables with some amazing people. It is not very easy to come up with something essential in a very short moment of presentation.

But thanks for the internet, my chat with some friends have become a way to rehearse what I really need to say about the whole idea in a brief description. The topic would be about Home Base Learning and Community Base Education, where family should be the smallest unit for people to start learning how to learn. Most of Us in this forum would be the kind of people who are disappointed by the education system in our country. Where after a too long study time and loads of resources to invest, the generations we harvest still a bunch of useless for community greenhorns. Something must be terribly wrong in the education process.

And great thing about social media, just this afternoon I saw this table on one of my Facebook friends post. This one made by Dr. John Moravec...

I believe, this is what we think when we suggest the family based learning and the community base education. There will hardly be no teaching method, all about learning equally. The learning process will be as unique as the people in it, which are connected base on each specification, talent and skill. Where we all keep sustaining the need to share, and the education terminology in Web 3.0, should be understood that all and everyone in one community are included..

The biggest challenge in Web 3.0 maybe the lack of ability to think out of the box, the absence of innovation and imagination and the minimum creativity to generate content or make product to share. While the most important part in Web 3.0 is believing that the learning process is something unlimited. It takes time from the day we are born to the day we take our last breath. It is not an obligation what so ever.  It is totally a NEED to be fulfilled by every single one of us to have something new to learn every day.

We NEED to learn anywhere and anytime, from anybody we meet in our daily activity. Moreover we need to learn how to think globally and take local action, based on our own uniqueness elaborate with local wisdom to produce masterpiece from all the natural resources we have around us. After that we need to create solid network with all people to collaborate an improvement and generate massive change in our society towards the better tomorrow.

The next question will be, Do we have the eagerness to educate ourselves..??? Moreover, Do we have the curiosity to explore the universe around us…??? Including the life we live on, the path we are walking and the place we fill in this universal jigsaw puzzle…???

Since now a day, the bitter fact for us is not only the schools which officially provide education are still in Web 1.0, unfortunately most of all our education user and product are still there. After graduate and got a job no more learning, they simply stop growing. They live like a robot in their own comfort zone. Never look out what kind of problem the society is in, as if all social illness is not any of their concern.

I consider myself a Web 3.0 kind of parent , yet we send our kids  to A Web 1.0 kind of School. Because I believe they have mission to bring the Web 3.0 kind of learning to their school, by believing schooling is not only about having a place to get knowledge but more of the place to share and give knowledge...

My friend thinks the term robot that use negatively above is not appropriate anymore, the blue brain that build the newest droids, make the robot work and analyze better than most human. She gives me this link  : http://www.ted.com/talks/andrew_mcafee_what_will_future_jobs_look_like.html and say And says.. “We prefer to have people connection, we do love humanity but when human can't compete with the machine. We have no time for ego pampering..” Dang…!!! So true, robot work in better manner and order, they never know about the ego combine with closed mind and wide open mouth...

So then there should be something to develop in human to compete the blue brain. I am thinking of Mr Spock and Data in Startrek TV serials, they totally beat all the negativity in human as a potential starship crew.  The question would be, What do we need in education to produce people like Captain Kirk...???

If you watch the Startrek movie Into Darkness, there's a significant difference between human and the droid methods of observing, thinking, networking and deciding, before they take any serious action.

There are some values that humanity has, like friendship for not leaving any one behind. There’s also gut instinct and hunch to do what they think is right because they put much love in the life they live on, including on their job. Once we put love in everything we do for life, there will be much more to think in every breath we take, as there is a lot more to do in every step we make...

As we go further, we fly higher...

I believe that's what the droids can’t do.  Innovation, imagination, and reaching the highest dream are the best of humanity. I believe no droids can replace the way we share about everything we learn and earn in life.  No droids could ever flow words in writing the way I do. Because as a writer I do my writing with love. Coming from the necessity that’s built based on my concern about the life and society...

We share what we have based on our unique specification, experience, bbackground, and history. So I would say, finding our own passion and nurture it with love will give us the unbeatable skill and talent to create and generate masterpiece in our life.

Let us go back to our nature to nurture the life in us. So we can find the path that will lead us to our own authentic and genuine masterpiece for humanity. The very reason we are created on earth...
